The Rollickin Scoop Poll is back, and once again we're learning from the Electoral Commission to make politics a lot more understandable. Every scoop sold is a "vote," and our live poll boards update daily so you can watch the numbers move, just like a real election.
It's a bit of fun, but it's also our way of learning together (especially for our under-25s here in NZ's second-biggest city! Whoop! Whoop!). Let's find out who stands for what, why every vote counts, and how our Parliamentary seat system actually works.

How does the Scoop Poll work?

Customers "vote" with the scoops they order, and the Scoop Poll updates.

We love it when Party Leaders visit! It's a chance for our Rollickin Scoop Reporters to grab a quick interview, and for our Christchurch whānau to meet the politicians up close in their local gelato café.
When a party visits, we give away their party flavour free for one hour at that café.
It shakes up the poll in real time, a fun little demo of how Parliamentary seats shift as votes change. (Each store visit gets its own free hour. 🍦🍦🍦Hello! Party Leaders you can visit all three!)
Our Rollickin Scoop Reporters are journalism students from Ara and UC. They will put our visiting leaders through some Rollickin fun tests, including our famous one-minute Scoop-Off. Watch our socials!
