Scoop Poll 2026: Meet the Seven Flavours!

The cabinet is open.

Kia ora Ōtautahi! The flavour's are out! The Rollickin Scoop Poll is officially live, and all seven party flavours are now in the cabinet at our three Christchurch cafes. We've been working on these for months, so it feels very good to finally spill the scoop.

If you're new here, it's simple: every scoop you buy counts as a vote, and our live poll boards update daily so you can watch the numbers move, just like a real election. It's our fourth Scoop Poll after 2017, 2020 and 2023, and it's the most delicious way we know to get people talking about the election.

So who's in the running? Here are your 2026 candidates, in no particular order...

Meet the seven flavours.

Allsorts of Winston
The silver fox of Cabinet. Liquorice gelato, white chocolate fudge layers and an allsort on every scoop, because he's worked with all sorts. Sweet with the right coalition partner, but nobody's neutral about liquorice. Or Winston.
Five grand a year per baby for their first three years, up to three babies. Oh baby one! Oh baby two! Oh baby three!

Orange Choc Chippy (Gluten Free)
Chippy's back for round two! Caramel gelato with a tangy marmalade mix-in and a stack of dark choc chips. Open wide: ideally for a spoon, but three free doctor's visits are on the menu too. Nurses get a guaranteed job; everyone else gets guaranteed choc chips!
Bus fares capped at $20 a week, enough to hit all three Rollickin stores and still get to the polling booth.

Deputy PM by day, dessert deregulator by night.
Toasted marshmallow gelato, choc fudge and butter bikkies. Cut the red tape, not the marshmallow.
Ministry of Regulation approved and undefeated two polls running.

Marama Matcha (Vegan)
An eco-crime-fighting duo. Matcha coconut gelato and mango Swarbrick Swirl.
First on the KiwiMart shelf and showing the supermarket duopoly the checkout!
Wealth tax kicks in at the third scoop.
The only flavour in the cabinet that's already met its emissions targets!

Blueberry Lux
Back for seconds and fixing the basics: creamy cheesecake gelato, a blueberry ripple and buttery shortbread chunks. Nothing fancy, done properly. Debt down, ripple balanced, shortbread back to surplus, and not a crumb of new tax.
Phones away, spoons out. An hour a day of reading, writing, 'rithmetic and Rollickin!

Kai Reka Kūmara
Golden Kūmara Brûlée: roasted caramelised golden kūmara gelato with a burnt-sugar brûlée ripple and a caramelised crunch. Kūmara came to Aotearoa by waka and has fed our country ever since. Sweet as, and bringing Māoritanga to the cabinet!
Kai reka means tasty or sweet food.

Cherry on 'Op (Vegan)
Opportunity knocks! Fresh leader, in the middle sweet spot. Red cherry sorbet, choc fudge and a bed of choc soil: a bit sweet, a bit sour, and angling to be the cherry on top. Land value tax on the soil not yet included!
Citizen's income for all, so that's your scoop budget sorted. First time scoop polling!

How to vote with your spoon.

Pop into any of our three cafés and pick your flavour (or flavours, we won't tell).
Every scoop sold counts as one vote for that party's flavour.
The Scoop Poll updates daily, on our in-store boards and right here on our website.

Party leaders, the freezer door's open! When a party visits, we give away their flavour free for one hour at that café. It shakes up the poll in real time, a fun little demo of how Parliamentary seats shift as votes change. Each store visit gets its own free hour, so why not visit all three!

Our Rollickin Scoop Reporters, journalism students from Ara and UC, will be interviewing and putting visiting leaders through our famous one-minute Scoop-Off. Watch our socials!

We'll announce the final results around Friday 6 November, just before the election day blackout kicks in.

The scoop that actually counts.
The gelato's the fun part, but the real vote is on Saturday 7th November.
Only 62.16% of 18 to 24 year olds are enrolled to vote, compared with 80 to 90% of other age groups.
That's 166,746 people - a lot of voices missing from the conversation! We want you enrolled, voting and heard.
